Responsibilities
Help implement outreach strategies via canvassing and community engagement to increase the number of low-income clients served in the Inland Empire with an emphasis in the TCC Ontario project area
Help promote community awareness of GRID Alternatives work and mission by researching, attending, and potentially speaking at community events, tabling, and meetings.
Assist outreach team with program awareness and application intake at off-site office hours (library, community center etc.)
Other job duties as assigned: may include office administrative work, data entry, file management, answering homeowner and volunteer questions, talking to media and generally participating in activities necessary to make solar happen for low-income families
Assist Outreach department to meet/exceed annual goals, including development and fundraising activities
Supporting the Outreach team with sending letters, labeling envelopes, and general program marketing efforts
What you need to bring to this role
Availability for a 3 month commitment, 30-40 hours a week
Ability to work independently or as part of a team
Comfortable working in diverse settings: outdoors, door-to-door canvassing, community spaces and events, installation sites, etc.
Ability to relate to and respect diverse populations
Interest in and enthusiasm for renewable energy, community development, green jobs and/or helping families and communities in need
Flexibility and willingness to embrace change, go the extra mile, and bring ideas and energy to a rapidly evolving organization
MUST live in the Inland Empire area in California
MUST hold a valid drivers license with a clean driving record, have reliable transportation to get to and from work, including the GRID IE Riverside office and/or various build locations across Riverside and San Bernardino counties OR proof of up-to-date vaccination status which may grant access to the GRID fleet's carpool
MUST be willing to test weekly for Covid-19, if not vaccinated, and follow all of GRID Alternatives Covid-19 safety policies
Hired CA candidates must be able to pass a screening for drugs that are illegal in the state of California, including: amphetamine, cocaine metabolite, opiates, and PCP.

It would be great if you also had
Previous volunteer experience or Outreach experience with GRID Alternatives
Previous customer service, sales, or public facing experience
Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred but not required
Some experience with computers and MS Office; G-Suite platforms a plus

Where you will sit & the places you may go
This is hybrid remote position. Our office and warehouse are in Riverside, CA. This position requires about 70% travel throughout the IE communities (with a focus in Ontario) for onsite work as well as remote work from home. Early mornings, some late evenings, and some weekends may also be required.
GRID Alternatives provides vehicles for work travel, and due to COVID-19 current guidelines, we may also require limited personal vehicle use. In the latter instance, GRID will provide travel reimbursement for work-related personal vehicle use in accordance with our payroll schedule and policies. Additionally, all applicants will need a valid drivers license and good driving record to be considered.
